NIKA-Siri® S-12 ropes are 12 strand High Modulus / High Performance ropes with excellent properties, ideal for the heavy shipping industry. They are manufactured using the highest quality UHMWPE fibers.

NIKA-Siri® S-12 ropes are 8 times stronger than steel ropes and 3 times stronger than polyester (on a weight by weight comparison).

APPLICATIONS: MOORING / TOW LINES / STS OPERATIONS (to be used with synthetic tails) / ANCHORING / OFFSHORE / AQUACULTURE / FISHING / YACHTING

The application of NikaThane-S coating and the heat-setting process improve drastically the structural stability and the strength efficiency of the rope while increasing the rope’s coefficient of friction for better gripping performance when used in winches, capstans, chocks, bitts etc. When compared to wire ropes, NIKA-Siri® S-12 ropes are stronger (for the same weight), lighter (making it easy and fast to handle), safer to use and cost-saving (minimum maintenance needs, no greases, faster operating times).

APPLICATIONS: MOORING / TOW LINES / STS OPERATIONS (to be used with synthetic tails) / ANCHORING / OFFSHORE / YACHTING

There are three options for the jacket:

a. 100% Polyester jacket: A reliable protective jacket that offers very good abrasion resistance and gripping properties when used on winches, capstans and other types of hardware.

b. Mixed jacket (UHMWPE/PES): A special blend of UHMWPE and polyester fibers form a highly abrasion protective jacket, that combines the gripping efficiency of Polyester and the ultra-high abrasion resistance of UHMWPE fibers.

c. UHMWPE jacket: A High Modulus jacket that provides maximum abrasion resistance prolonging significantly the rope’s service life.

These special jackets provide extra protection against abrasion, UV sunlight and environmental degradation. The jackets are repairable with the use of repair kit.

The 12strand core is treated with NikaThane-J coating and the unique heat-setting processes enhance the fiber’s superior characteristics and improve drastically the structural stability and the strength efficiency of the rope. Also, NikaThane-J coating improves the core-jacket interaction, minimizing the jacket slack during operation.

NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes are high Modulus / high performance UHMWPE 12-strand ropes, where each strand is a 12-strand UHMWPE rope over-braided with High Tenacity Polyester sheath, resulting in a robust rope structure.

The special engineered structure of NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes gives them very high abrasion durability. This unique structure protects against both external and internal abrasion. Each strand is coated with NikaThane-J coating and undergoes a fine heat-setting process that enhances the rope-strand’s breaking strength.

APPLICATIONS: MOORING / TOW LINES / STS OPERATIONS (to be used with synthetic tails) / ANCHORING / OFFSHORE

NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes are 7 times stronger than steel ropes and 3 times stronger than polyester on a weight by weight comparison. When compared to wire ropes, NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes are stronger on a weight by weight basis, lighter and easier to handle, safer to use with reduced recoiling upon breaking. If floating properties are required then instead of Polyester, the sheath can be made using UHMWPE fibers that enhance also the abrasion resistance even more.

NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes have been field tested in tugboat operations, a highly demanding application, with exceptional results.

NIKA-Siri® X-12 ropes are an excellent wire-rope alternative and some of the reasons are the following:

  1. Most cost effective ropes to purchase due to lower labor requirements in operations and decreased mooring & towing operating times
  2. Safer and easier to use due to their high strength and low weight.
  3. 2-3 times longer service life
  4. Negligible maintenance costs

NIKA-Siri® X-12 comply with OCIMF’s latest regulations & recommendations for the safe mooring of the tanker vessels.
